ELECTRONICS

Guatemala typically uses the same electric outlets as the USA (types A & B) and their most common electrical current is 110v with the occasional 220v outlet, which is usually labeled. Please refer to your home country outlet type to determine if you need electrical adapters or not. Note: Usually phone and computer chargers have a current converter in them, where other electronics like curling irons, straighteners, and hair dryers may not.

  • Cell Phone & Chargers
  • Headlamp / Flashlight
    • if you decide to roam about at night, as not every street is well-lit
  • Camera

THINGS NOT TO PACK

  • High-heels
    • difficult to walk around in on some streets
  • Unnecessary Valuables
    • flashy jewelry, unnecessary electronic devices, etc

Note: Guatemala is safe to visit, but we highly recommend bringing only the devices that you will use like a cell phone & camera. Having multiple devices, especially in public, can make one a target for theft. It also gives more opportunity for more items to get lost and we don’t want either for any of our travelers.
